Plenty of people are saying that Nike had a bad new balance shoes year, but for the swoosh, a bad year is still better than most, if not all other brands. For what it's worth, I still bought more Nike shoes this year than Jordan (yes, I can differentiate between the two), adidas, PUMA, New Balance, Under Armour and every other brand combined.
In 2011 he opened up his own apparel and footwear boutique called Kith NYC which now has two locations in New York. 2015 was another banner year for Fieg as he collaborated with new balance 574 multiple brands that include Asics, New Balance, PUMA, Diadora and more to release some exceptional projects.
Serving as this year's Black Friday was release was this collaboration between Ronnie Fieg and the new balance outlet New Balance 998. The sneaker is a representation of Fieg's upbringing in New York City, and the general mentality associated with living in the "concrete jungle." Like they say, if you can make it here you can make it anywhere.
So why is that? Is it because they couldn't find any brands/partners/boutiques to collaborate with? Nah it can't be that. I'm sure new balance sale Nike has hundreds of people constantly knocking on their door begging to collaborate with them. Maybe because the Air Max 90 isn't that popular? Nope. The Air Max 90 is one of Nike's most loved and classic silhouettes that continues to sell in pretty much every colorway that's released.
Maybe the reasoning behind their disappointing 25th anniversary releases is the fact that Nike feels that they don't have to try as hard anymore. I mean they know that we're gonna buy any colorway that they release new balance for sale anyway, so why give us something to get truly excited for that will go head to head against the growing competition of runners from other brands? Brands like New Balance, Asics, and Saucony are constantly releasing impressive collaborations which is part of the reason that runners are growing in popularity.
As big and powerful as Nike is they probably have this idea that they reign supreme above everyone else. And even though they're right, would it really kill them to put some real effort and give us something creative in order to celebrate one of their most loved and recognized silhouettes of all time?
